April Lutz Named Clearwater Elementary West Principal

Clearwater USD 264 is excited to announce that April Lutz has been selected as Principal of Elementary West. She will join the team this summer.

“She is an energetic leader and learner who connects very well with students,” said Superintendent Chris Cooper. “She impressed everyone on both interview teams with her focus on authentic learning experiences and restorative practices.”

Originally from Nebraska, Ms. Lutz is a 2014 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2017.

Ms. Lutz was an elementary teacher, then district summer school administrator in Leavenworth, Kansas, and is currently serving as elementary principal and director of special education in Oakland, Nebraska.

While touring Elementary West and meeting staff members, Ms. Lutz was impressed with their willingness to do whatever it takes to provide the best education and experiences for their students. It was clear to her that the Clearwater staff love their kids and the community.

Ms. Lutz said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the Clearwater community as the Clearwater Elementary West Principal. I'm excited to meet and get to know staff, students, families and the community. I look forward to partnering with each of you to do what's best for our kids. Having the opportunity to serve the Clearwater community is a blessing and I can’t wait to get started!”

Building relationships and making connections with all kids is important to Ms. Lutz. She said, “School is a place where kids feel accepted, loved and valued. My passion is to influence people by developing and equipping them to create rich learning experiences for our kiddos. I believe that we must always be growing and pursuing greatness so that our students have success in whatever their future holds.”

We are proud to have Ms. Lutz join our district.
