Navigating Change

Posted Date: 07/06/2020

Dear Clearwater Parents and Community,

I’m Chris Cooper, new Superintendent of Clearwater Schools.  I wanted to introduce myself and inform you about our process for planning to “re-open” our schools this fall.  We will receive official guidance from the Kansas State Department of Education on July 16th.  That evening a group of staff, administrators, parents, and community members will start making a plan that will fit our needs and that is in compliance with the guidance from the state and requirements of Sedgwick County Health Department.   I want to make sure that we hear your thoughts, concerns, and ideas.  This Friday, July 10th, all parents of Clearwater students should receive a brief survey to collect information needed for our planning process.  This will also be an opportunity for you to give input to the planning team.  Our hope is to have a plan in place by August 4th to start school, whatever that looks like, about two weeks later.  We will communicate the plan as soon as possible after August 4th.  For more information as it becomes available and a planning timeline, regularly visit usd264.org

This is a strange and everchanging season of life.  I know it can be stressful and frustrating.  Our goal is to have school as normal as possible while having necessary measures in place to keep everyone safe.  Feel free to email me at ccooper@usd264.org with questions, concerns, or input you would like to share.  I may not have the answers or solutions at this time but will make sure your thoughts are addressed in the planning process.

These are challenging times, but I am convinced that we will come together and be stronger through them.   By focusing on the things that unite us as Clearwater Indians, we will navigate this change together.

Chris Cooper
