Mission Statement:

Our mission is to empower the students of Clearwater Elementary School to make responsible choices and to meet the challenges of the future in a thoughtful, flexible manner.

Pickup/Dropoff:

This year all students in preschool through third grade will attend school at Elementary West. In order to accommodate the drop off and pick up of almost 400 students, our district has installed additional parking and sidewalks. We have also worked closely with the Clearwater police department to design a system that will allow students to arrive at and depart from school safely. In order to make this happen we need your assistance and cooperation.

Click here for a map of the school. You will notice that there are drop off and pick up zones that are numbered. Please note that each zone is designated “drop off or pick up only.” These zones are not designed for long-term parking from 7:30 am to 8:00 am or from 2:45 pm to 3:15 pm. Depending on the age of your children, we ask that you use the designated zone when dropping off or picking them up. To ensure the safety of the children, there will be adult supervision for each zone during these hours.

The zones have been designated as follows:

Zones 1, 2, and 4: Second and Third Grade Students

Zones 3, 5, and 6: Kindergarten and First Grade Students

Zones 5 and 6: Early Childhood, Kindergarten, and First Grade Students

If you have a child in more than one grade, we ask that you use the parking zone designated for your younger child. We believe it is safer for the older children to walk down and meet you than to ask our small children to walk a distance from their exit doors.

Please note that Prospect Street is marked with double yellow lines. These lines prohibit U-turns. It also important to remember that the areas marked “drop off or pick up only” cannot be used for parking when you need to leave your car and enter the building. The police department will be enforcing these regulations.

Although we believe we have a well-designed plan, it will be up to all of us to exercise patience for the first few weeks of school. Please remember that small children need time to remember their routines. All of our staff will make decisions based on the safety of the students rather than on the convenience of the adults.

Finally, please remember that the drive at the back of the school is for buses only. Children whose parents drop them off or pick them up, children who walk, or children who ride bikes will use the front entrances only.
